Arc’teryx Theta AR Gortex Pro Jacket L

One of Arc’teryx’s original hardshells, and now a sought-after piece.

The Theta AR came out in 1998, in the early years of Arc’teryx’s partnership with Gore-Tex. It was the longer sibling of the Beta AR. “AR” stands for All-Round, and the Theta’s thigh-length cut gave extra protection from deep snow and driving rain, which made it a favourite with backcountry skiers, climbers and alpine travellers. In 2001 it headlined Arc’teryx’s first collaboration with Japanese retailer BEAMS. Arc’teryx discontinued the jacket in 2017. In 2026, Arc’teryx and BEAMS brought the Theta AR back for their 25th anniversary collection, with a Japanese retail price of about $1,190 USD. That shows how much this jacket still means to collectors and to fans of the brand, who call themselves “Dead Bird” fans after the logo. Original pairs are getting harder to find.

Any flaws have been shown.
